Professional Voice Actors Volunteer for Learning Ally

Categories: Audiobook Library, Volunteerism

In the blink of an eye, a partnership was born! Nearly two years ago, Learning Ally's Mike Kinsey heard that the LA-532_LRScreen Actor's Guild was supporting a program called bookPALS. In this program, professional voice actors go into schools to volunteer to read to kids. This program sparked an idea - why not ask if these same volunteers would also be willing to record books to reach kids who have print disabilities all over the nation? That idea lead to action. Today, we have over 100 professional voice actors volunteering to read for Learning Ally! "We're focusing on children and young adult literature with our voice actors," says Kinsey. "We really want to bring the audiobooks to life." LisaBehindTheMicAnd that's exactly what's happening. Lisa Biggs is a professional voice over artist whose voice can be heard in commercials, animated series, and talking toys. Now, she can add volunteer reader to that list. Her many voices bring stories to life for young readers! Check out some of Lisa's animated voices here. In fact, Lisa is going above and beyond by offering a series of webinars for aspiring voice actors with all donations going back to support Learning Ally! Are you a current Learning Ally member who would like to try some of our voice actor recorded books?
